Mt Worth State Park Map

Allow up to 2 hours to travel from Melbourne as you can't rush the last sections up the mountain. Take the M1 Princes Highway to the Darnum exit which is approximately 7-8 km past Warragul. Take the exit and at the top of the ramp turn right over the highway and then left into Darnum, past the General Store, toilets and the Darnum Hotel. Follow the Mt Worth signs along Darnum-Allambee Rd, initially on bitumen through farmland before starting to climb and wind on gravel roads. After a while turn slightly left into McDonalds Track, then turn right into Allambee Estate Road. When houses appear on your left you are nearly there. Cross the bridge and immediately turn right, over the cattle grid, into the carpark at the Moonlight Creek picnic area. Toilets and a shelter on site.

Suggested alternative route for return journey: return to McDonalds Track keeping left towards the Mt Worth Lookout and Seaview, turn right when you reach the Grand Ridge Rd which becomes the Warragul-Leogatha Rd through Ellinbank. At the T intersection with the Korumburra-Warragul Rd turn right to get back to the M1 at Warragul.

Approaching from Melbourne via the M1, take the left hand lanes into Geelong, A10 (not the ring road). The Bellarine Highway B110 is the best way to get to Ocean Grove. Care needs to be taken to follow the signage for the B110 going through Geelong as the road has a couple of bends. The intersection of Grubb Road and Bellarine Hwy is marked by a big roundabout with Fagg's Mitre10 on the left side of the highway and a golf course/adventure park to the right. Turn right into Grubb Rd and travel 1.9 km to the entrance of the reserve. There is a brown and white tourist sign before the turnoff. If you get as far as the Kingston shopping centre you've gone too far. Follow the unmade road within the reserve for about 500 metres until you reach the car park with picnic facilities and toilets. We will spend the morning in the reserve and have lunch there. After lunch we will drive to Begola Wetlands and park in Tuckfield Road. If time permits we will also visit Blue Waters Lake. There are no toilets at these last two locations but there are some at the shopping centre and surf beach. Bring lunch, afternoon tea and a folding chair.
