Meet at Sorrento Pier, Melway 157 C7 at 9:00am

We are being picked up around 9.30 am and will be dropped off again about 4 pm. People will need to be prepared to wade into Mud Islands from the boat, but it is rarely more than knee-deep. Bring lunch, sunscreen and shoes for wading as Mud Islands is actually two sand islands and we will be wading between them. If the wind is too strong for the trip to proceed, we will visit an alternate birding location on the Mornington Peninsula. There is all-day parking adjacent to the pier at $10 for the day or free parking up the hill.
NOTE: THE TRIP WILL PROCEED ON A TOTAL FIRE BAN DAY.

Cost $50 for adults, $40 for children under 14 years. Maximum 39 people. Bookings essential.

Meet at the carpark on the left immediately inside the park near the old visitors centre. We will be birding here before driving to the new visitor’s centre at the Quarantine Station. We will have an early lunch at the Quarantine Station and then walk to the end of Point Nepean (approx. 5 km). The intention is to catch the 4pm bus back to the Quarantine Station ($12 adults, $8 concession) but people may elect to walk back.

Take the Mornington Peninsula Freeway to where it ends at Boneo Road (second roundabout). Turn left and drive approx. 12 km to the car park for Two Bays Walking Track & Bushrangers Bay (Melway Map 259 K 8). We will leave half the cars here and drive to Baldry’s Crossing (Melway Map 254 G 6) via Meakins Road, Mornington-Flinders Road and Baldry’s Road (approx. 14 km) for the start of the walk. We will be walking approximately 12 km from Baldry’s Crossing to Boneo Road, carrying lunch with us. When we get to Boneo Road we will drive the cars back to Baldry’s Crossing for afternoon tea. Bring a chair. No toilets.

Take the Westgate Freeway, Western Ring Road and Western Highway to Rockbank. Take the Leakes Road exit and turn left. Follow Leakes Road to the end and turn right onto Greigs Road. Follow Greigs Road around the bend onto Mount Cotterell Road and then turn right onto Greigs Road West. Follow the road over the Werribee River and turn left at Eynesbury Road. After the Grey Box Forest the road goes over a small bridge over a creek that leads to an ornamental lake on the right. Immediately after the bridge turn right into the golf course car park. Follow the road into the car park and park back at the bridge end. Bring lunch, afternoon tea and a chair.

Take the M1 (Princes Highway) towards Geelong. Note that when approaching the Western Ring Road (M80) turnoff, the two lanes for the M1 are now on the left, not on the right (M80). Follow the M1 signs around the Geelong Bypass towards Anglesea. Take the C134 exit (Anglesea) and then keep following C134 through Bellbrae. At the roundabout on the other side of Bellbrae turn right on the B100 (Anglesea and Lorne). Immediately after the Bells Beach turnoff turn left onto Point Addis Road. Go to the car park at the far end of the road. Toilets are available about 150m from the car park. After birding at Point Addis we will continue on to Coogoorah Park for lunch and further birding. Bring lunch, afternoon tea and a folding chair. Allow at least two hours driving time from Cheltenham.
